Sunshine

Ah, fall. How I love your fabulous boots, slouchy sweaters, comfortable leggings, and big bags. For this set, I wanted to create a look that you could accessorize through splurging or through being economical – because sometimes it’s fun to dream. These outfits are (obviously) very similar in build; studded boots, a bright yellow scarf, a couple of sparkly but subtle accessories, and a classic black bag. However, these outfits have drastically different price points. One of the things I love the most about fashion is the “trickle” effect: eventually, any fashions seen on the runway are available at a much more affordable price point. This post is a great example of that phenomenon. What are some of your favorite ways to save money? Trolling Ebay? Stalking online sales? I’d love to know in the comments! Xoxo!

Sailor Top ($20) / Skirt ($46) / Nude Flat ($50) / Crossbody Shoulder Bag ($50) /

Sometimes simplicity wins. What I love about this outfit is how classic it looks. A burnt orange skirt with the nude pairings allows the color to pop and sets off the beauty of the taupe. I love this crossbody bag from Target – it looks very supple and lush yet comes with a reasonable price. Adding some gold pieces to this look make the colors warm and fall-like, with the ring brining the look together seamlessly. This look could be easily transitioned to winter by adding knee high boots and a brown sweater or jacket. Bring on fall, y’all!

Werk It

I love bold pants. They can take any outfit to the next level, especially on a work day. I wore a version of this outfit myself a few days ago and got several compliments on it. I got a blazer similar to this at Lane Bryant and LOVE it – it’s super versatile and extremely comfortable. Adding in a bold pant keeps the look from being too monochromatic, while simple yet bold jewelry adds sophistication to the outfit. Usually I wouldn’t post such an expensive necklace, but this one from Stella & Dot converts to several different necklaces – it’s way cool, and I recommend checking it out on their website to see how else to wear it. I also love these chic updated moccasins from Zara; the silver is almost liquid looking and the pointed toe keeps the shape fresh. Adding in a large structured tote finishes off the outfit. In my book, you could “werk” this look in any setting!

Batgirl!
Da-na-naaaaa. She’s back!
I will be the first to admit, the past few months have been tough. Between an exhausting last month of teaching and taking an extremely difficult online class this summer, the last thing I’ve been able to do was put productive energy into one of the things I love the most. It’s been tough not being able to blog, but I’ve also been able to reflect on my goals, dreams, and (of course), personal style! I am hoping this new school year will inspire and renew my passion for blogging!
So – now on to the good stuff!
This set is an homage to my middle school girls. They are uber fashionable and this Batman sweatshirt screams back-to-school-cool. Even though this shirt looks more preteen than posh, matching it with the right accessories can make it chic and grown up. I love this black and white striped skirt with it; the stripes are flattering on any body shape as long as the skirt isn’t too tight and is paired with a longer top. Adding a jean jacket and classic black heels make the look a little more pulled together, and a few fun accessories make it dressy and polished. A black clutch and some gorgeous periwinkle nails complete the look!
Here’s to a fabulous year, both in school and out!

Purple Perfection

For today’s post, I wanted to take a fairly simple dress and show how to wear it two ways. For a more casual look, this dress is perfect for shopping around on a Saturday. Pairing the dress with gold sandals and jewelry makes it look effortlessly chic. I love the big Aldo cuff with this look – teal and yellow look beautiful with purple, and this wide cuff compliments the look without overwhelming it. I love this crossbody satchel from Juicy Couture; its simple, clean lines are timeless and could be worn a million different ways. Adding in some big sunnies and this fun pair of snake earrings rounds out this look. On the flip side of this, it’s always fun to have a dress that looks drastically different just by changing the accessories. This dress is perfect for a wedding when paired with the right accessories. I love these mint green strappy heels; the color is perfection and I like how they have structure without being bulky. This clutch is more expensive than what I usually post, but the colors in it are to die for and the shimmer of gold adds some elegance to the outfit. A simple gold ring and earrings tie together the look seamlessly. Hope you’re all staying (and looking) cool!
