Furry

A vest is a great way to take an outfit from winter into spring without any muss or fuss. I personally love vests and scarves to transition outfits into different seasons; they are versatile, comfortable, and can be worn with just about anything. For this look, I love the contrast of the utilitarian clothing and the vixen makeup. Red immediately glams up any look, but make sure to find a color that compliments your skin tone – some women need reds that are more brown and some need reds that are more purple or pink. It totally depends on your skin. My best advice is to go into a store where they have samples of lipstick available and to brush them onto your hand. You can move around the store and look at them in different lights to see which compliments you the best. Just don’t forget which ones you used!

This casual look would be great for running errands on a Saturday. I love the contrast of the light brown booties and the metallic clutch; all the different fabrics and textures in this look work cohesively to create a lovely aesthetic. The shirt (which I adore) comes in several different colors and runs from size 0-3X! Modcloth.com is a great website for women’s clothing because they make an effort to tailor their site to so many sizes, styles, and ages; I highly recommend checking it out! These army green skinny jeans look great with the booties, but if that’s not your cup of tea, a straight leg army green pant with gold flats would look gorgeous as well. I love the simple gold jewelery with this look – wearing more jewelry and the vest would be too much visually. However, if you lose the vest, a statement necklace would look great. I didn’t put the price of the vest in the post for two reasons: first, the vest is real fur. I don’t condone purchasing new fur (just a personal preference) and I couldn’t find a vest that had the look I wanted that was synthetic. Secondly, the vest is over $600, and let’s be real… we don’t have time for that. I just wanted to show an example of a great look, and my search for the perfect faux vest will continue!

I hope you are all having a fabulous week. Until next time! Xo!

Queen of Hearts

Patterned sweaters continue to be a major player in current fashion trends. From celebs to moms, teens to sixty-somethings, women of all ages are embracing this chic look. I wanted to show how to take a sweater and dress it up or down depending on the day – I’m also going to keep this sweater in my rotation to create another look when it gets closer to spring. I love being able to mix and match pieces from different seasons to get different looks, and a lightweight sweater could easily transition into late spring.

For shopping with the girls, I love pairing this sweater with a pair of stretchy, slightly distressed jeans and knee-high boots. Adding in a bright orange satchel brings some much needed color into an otherwise neutral look, and this amazing statement cuff from Juicy Couture glams up the look without being over the top. For a date night, I like pairing this sweater with a longer but body-conscious pencil skirt. Any color skirt would work, but I would stay away from basic black – since the sweater is so fun, it’s a good piece to branch out with in terms of color and style. I love these stylish laced booties that hit right at the ankle – this keeps the ankle from looking wide (and bonus – they’re on sale right now!) Adding in a pair of patterned tights and a bright clutch make the look polished and sophisticated. You could also easily wear the cuff again with this outfit. Statement jewelry is so versatile!

I hope you all are enjoying your Monday. Xo!

Oops!

Some of you all may have seen this before I had a chance to write a post with it – if you did, I apologize! I import my sets and always do so as drafts so I can go in and fine-tune the details, and I updated the set and forgot to go in and fix it!

But now… back to the fashion. Can we just ooh and aah over this dress for a few? It comes in sizes 0-3X and is universally flattering. The wide waist can be belted to add shape or left plain, and it can be worn all four seasons with ease. I decided to make this a “two-way” post because this dress is so versatile. For the winter, I love pairing this dress with black tights, a chic jacket, and high-heeled ankle booties. The wonderful thing about a dress so neutral is that you could pair it with a different color jacket or any number of accessories and it would completely change the look. I decided on some electric blues and greens for the accessories with a more subtle mint clutch to show how you can work the same color family with a great deal of variation and still get a very polished look. I also felt this dress would be perfect for a spring wedding. The accessories are expensive in this post, but they are items that could be worn in so many different ways that the price-per-wear makes them investment pieces that would last for years. I could DIE for these shoes – the d’orsay opening with the jewels is stunning, and adding in a fun clutch and earrings finishes out the outfit nicely. I also wanted to point out that you shouldn’t be afraid to mix metals – each of the sets have silver and gold pieces, so just wear what feels comfortable and don’t worry about being too “matchy.” Life is more fun when you’re spontaneous! Xo!

I’ve had this set put together for over a month. I had this whole post planned about how “Thanksgiving-ish” it is and really thought I was on point. And then I basically forgot I had a blog.

I know. How does that even happen?

As much as I love my blog, I just.got.tired. Tired of planning. Tired of thinking. Tired of trying to stay up past 6 o’clock when Daylight Savings ended. Sigh.

However – my mom casually mentioned to me the other day that her friends in Film Club (especially Linda and Carolyn) were missing my posts. (Side note: Film Club or Movie Club? Either way, some club with movies and champagne.) It was then I realized I needed to dust off my laptop, get in gear, and create some fun holiday posts. So… here we go! I’m going to pre-date several posts and hopefully have them rolling throughout the month!

And now… on to the fashion. I absolutely love the fall – especially November into December. The crisp air is so comforting, and I love a pair of leggings more than is probably healthy. Sweaters and scarves simply scream comfort, campfires, and frost. It is absolutely my favorite time of year. This set is an homage to my love of all things autumnal. I love this bright red shirt that goes so well with the cardigan from H&M. The leggings and knee-high boots elongate the body and the gold accents truly warm up the entire look. I also love this brown bag from Zara; it comes with a cross-body strap to wear when shopping but folds conveniently into the satchel for a night out. What are some of the things that remind you of fall? I can’t wait to hear! Xo!
